We produce creative online videos for businesses which increase their brand awareness and attract new customers.
How important, out of 10, is digital technology to your business?
10! As a company, we rely on digital technology to serve our clients. Whether it’s the video cameras we film with, the drones we fly or the iMacs we edit on, digital technology is integral to what we do.
What do you think is the most important digital innovation from the last 20 years?
As obvious as it sounds, social media. Go back 20 years and your advertising options as a small business were limited to print advertising or word of mouth referrals. Nowadays, with sites such as Facebook, online advertising has become so much more accessible for businesses of all sizes. There is absolutely still a place for print advertising, but being just a few clicks away from reaching a very targeted audience on a small budget is nothing short of amazing. I’m excited to see what’s next.
How has digital technology affected your career, your business and your sector?
It’s given me an appreciation for how much easier it’s made my job compared to how things used to be done. For example, videos used to be shot on tape and the editing process was slow and very linear. Nowadays we have the ability to cut and paste soundbites, footage and graphics quickly and easily which gives us a tremendous amount of flexibility. Aerial videos used to be filmed from a helicopter but now it’s done with a drone. That said, whilst technology has changed significantly, the fundamentals of what makes a great video haven’t changed. A compelling (and ultimately successful) video still requires good building blocks: concept, vision, and story.
What advice would you give to entrepreneurs starting out on their business journey?
Persist, stay focussed and show value to your clients and prospects before anything else. Seek advice from successful business people and don’t be afraid to ask questions or admit to things you don’t know. We’re all constantly learning.
